GALLERY -LARGE HOUSE RECONFIGERATION- MARLOW

'Quarry Lodge has been expertly transformed from a quirky Edwardian home with a confusing plan to a contemporary flowing layout. The changes accentuate the inherent character of the property whilst improving the aspect, natural light and use of the floor space. The kitchen and dining entertaining areas have been completely re-modelled, adding significant value to the home, whilst the first floor including the master suite has been optimised for a variety of potential residents. Previously underused square footage has become impressively purposeful and the overall finish is magnificent.'

The property is located in the Green Belt and required a complete re-design of the layout to enable an effective flow through the building. Extensive negotiation with the planning department enabled permission for a small extension to the first floor. The stair location was moved to the centre of the plan and flooded with natural light from above, originally this part of the house was very dark. Re-location of the stair allowed a redesign of the first floor to provide 3 bedrooms including a master suite that now takes advantage of the glorious views over the River Thames. The original kitchen has been doubled in size and the dining space moved to the first floor, incorporation of a dumb waiter allows food produced in the kitchen to be transported to the dining space. The dining space opens out onto a new terrace also taking advantage of the views. The electrics, plumbing, plaster-work and windows have been replaced create a property fit for the future.
